This is a book in English, including a total of 82 Chinese characters demonstrated in five parts, namely “Nature”, “Animals”, “Human Beings”, “Objects” and “Chinese Style”.
Each character is illustrated with its ancient form in oracle bone or other inscriptions, a well-known ancient painting or a sketch designed by the author herself, and is described using an interesting, beautiful English poem. Bing He is a poet and artist who writes in both Chinese and English. She was born in Beijing, China and is now living in Ottawa, Canada. She has published Chinese prose in Chinese and North American newspapers and journals. Her first English poetry book Alphabetic Zen has attracted much attention since its publication in 2005 and has brought her interviews with CBC, Radio Canada International and Xinhua News Agency. She has attended Ottawa International Writers Festival and Montreal Blue Metropolis International Festival and has received art grants on visual art and poetry from the City of Ottawa. Her paintings have been exhibited in art galleries.
