Collected Papers of Cui Xiliang in Linguistics includes the author’s papers published over the past 10 years (a few papers about phonetics and dialects were published even earlier). Among all the papers included, some make an in-depth study on micro problems such as the words “开心" (happy) vs. “关心" (care for), the prepositions “往" (towards), “向" (towards), “从" (from) and “由" (from), the modal element “哈" and the kinship terms, and others ponder over and look into the future of macro problems such as the discipline construction of TCFL, the relationship between theories and practice, language teachers’ knowledge and competence and the norm of academic research. With the topics and research methods of many papers closely related to Chinese teaching and the argumentation and examples being well-grounded and abundant, the book can be used as a reference book in the researches of Chinese ontology and of teaching Chinese as a foreign language.
