Course Design is the first work that makes specific and systematic studies on
course design in the field of Teaching Chinese as a Foreign Language. The
author tries to use the framework of pedagogical theories, comprehensively
analyzing the course design of Teaching Chinese as a second (foreign) language,
especially exploring the principles, procedures and methods of the Chinese
language course design. To provide guidance to Chinese language teachers in
various situations, this book focuses on the general procedures of Chinese
language course design, including the understanding of the course, the defining
of the course targets, the selection of the course contents, the organization,
implementation and evaluation of the course, etc. This is a work that has both

Associate Professor and PhD in Education of Beijing
Language and Culture University, focuses his research on the curriculum and
teaching theories of Teaching Chinese as a Foreign Language, and development of
Chinese language teachers. He published Implicit
Learning: New Horizon of the Teaching Chinese as a Foreign Language and
many other papers. He also published a monograph entitled Development of Chinese Language Teachers. He offers specialized courses
for undergraduate and graduate students of Teaching Chinese as a Foreign
Language, such as Pedagogical Principles, Introducing Second Language
Education, Monographic Studies on Course and Teaching Theories, Studies on
Teaching Chinese to Foreigners, and he also teaches Chinese courses including
Comprehensive Chinese, Chinese Speaking, Listening and Reading for
international students studying in China.
