This book mainly introduces the idea of syntactic words, discussing it from different aspects, such as the concept, derivation, significance, historical position, and the difference between syntactic words and phrases. Each chapter is in large part made up of reasoning and explanation, supported by formal methods. With concrete linguistic examples, it introduces the readers to a brand new field of study. 

Zhuang Huibin, Ph.D., focuses on the studies of prosodic grammar, syntax, and historical linguistics. Zhuang studied after Professor Liu Zhenqian in Shandong University during 2006-2012; in 2010-2011, with a scholarship from the China Scholarship Council, he went to the United States to study syntax after Professor Li Yafei. Over the past five years, Zhuang has published more than 30 academic papers in linguistics and hosted five research projects.
