on the Teaching of Putonghua in the Context of International Chinese Education,
a symposium held by the School of Chinese
Studies of BLCU together with the Chinese Department of Hong Kong Shue Yan
University. Including the reports of experts such as Cui Xiliang, Tian Xiaolin,
Zhao Jing, and Liu Xianqiang, this book is a perfect epitome of this symposium.
It encompasses a great variety of topics, such as Putonghua education and teaching
research, pronunciation of Putonghua and the teaching of pronunciation,
Putonghua standards and testing, Putonghua per se and teaching research.
Zhao Jing, associate professor in the School of Chinese Studies
of BLCU, graduated from Peking University in 1985 with a bachelor’s degree in
Chinese and obtained her master’s degree in linguistics and philology from BLCU
in 2005. Zhao’s research interests are Chinese linguistics/philology and
textbook compilation. Zhao has published several CFL textbooks, including Chinese Listening and Speaking Course and Essentials of HSK.
Liu Xianqiang
graduated from the Chinese Department of Peking University with a PhD in
linguistics and applied linguistics. Liu has been a CFL teacher in BLCU since
2002. His research focusing on theoretical linguistics, phonetics, and
phonology, Liu has published a number of academic papers in these fields.
