This book is a collection of papers from the Second Kent Ridge International Roundtable Conference on Chinese Linguistics which was held in National University of Singapore from 27th to 29th, November, 2002. The topic of this conference is "Interface in Chinese: Morphology, Syntax and Phonetics". As a small-scale, high-level, topic-centered international academic conference, it gathers senior professors of high prestige in Chinese linguistics research, as well as young and middle aged researchers who are engaged in the forefront of this academic field. After the papers were read and discussed on the conference, they were revised and compiled into a book to be published. The book collects most of the papers presented on the conference. It's a summary of the achievement of the conference, as well as a theoretical advancement of the views communicated among the researchers. This book is in series with Studies in Chinese Linguistics: A Typological Perspective, which is the collection of papers from the First Kent Ridge International Roundtable Conference on Chinese Linguistics, and has the same format and layout as the former one.
