Research on Chinese International Education across Both Sides of the Taiwan Straits collects papers written by teachers of Beijing Language and Culture University and Taiwan colleges and universities. It includes 60 papers, including discussions about the theory and practice of Chinese international education, research on language acquisition, teaching of Chinese language elements and culture elements, teaching of Chinese language skills and the textbook and teaching styles, teaching administration and evaluation studies. The research features are as follows: 1. the combination of theory and practice; 2. the wide coverage of research areas; 3. the feasible teaching styles and methods; 4. the demonstration of new teaching ideas of the 21st century and the more scientific and practical topic selection and argumentation methods. All these features improve the standardization and practicability of teachers’ research in this field.
This is Volume 2. It includes 31 papers in four units, which are respectively about the teaching theory and practice, the compilation of textbooks, the teaching of skills, teaching assessment, evaluation and administration.
Professor Zhang Wangxi, supervisor of PhD candidates of Beijing Language and Culture University, focuses his research on modern Chinese syntax, lexicology and Teaching Chinese as a Foreign Language (TCFL). He is now director of the Department of Chinese International Education, Beijing Language and Culture University. Dr. Marvin Ho, Board Chairman of Taipei Language Institute (TLI), is a famous linguist and educator in Chinese language teaching.
