This
book is a collection of papers from the cutting-edge academic forums
(2002-2013) held by Beijing Language Association, covering various aspects of
linguistics, including phonetics, grammar, vocabulary, language teaching, language
acquisition, sociolinguistics, minority languages, dialects, cognitive
linguistics, language testing, etc. The studies range from the perspective of
classical Chinese to that of modern Chinese Mandarin, from synchronic
observations and descriptions to diachronic explanations and analyses. The book
reflects the dynamics and trends of linguistic research and concerns both
individual microscopic language phenomena and macroscopic language planning,
both internal linguistic phenomena and relations between language and society,
both Chinese linguistics and linguistics in a neighboring and global context.
